Mykhailo Mudryk starred on debut as Chelsea and Liverpool played out to a goalless draw at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.
In a rematch of last year’s League and FA Cup finals, which both ended in 0-0 draws before Liverpool won on penalties, neither team could break the tie at Anfield, so they are still 10 points behind the top four.
Early on, Chelsea had the ball in the net, but Kai Havertz’s goal was ruled out because he was offside.
In the second half, the visitors brought on Mykhailo Mudryk, who they had just bought for 108 million euros, off the bench. The Ukrainian came the closest to scoring the winning goal when he shot into the side net.
Jurgen Klopp said that he might not have made it to 1,000 games as a manager if too many of the first 999 games were like each other.
But he was happy with his first clean sheet in the Premier League since October.
“I’m okay with 0-0 because you have to accept these steps,” said Klopp.
