Orlando Pirates moved up to third place in the DStv Premiership standings following their 2-1 victory over Golden Arrows at the Mpumalanga Stadium on Sunday.

Both teams converted penalties in the first half, with Patrick Maswanganyi putting the visitors from Soweto ahead and Nduduzo Sibiya equalising.

Karim Kimvuidi of Congo scored the game-winning goal 11 minutes into the second half, slamming a loose ball into the net from close range.

While the Pirates are on a winning streak, the Arrows dropped their fifth straight league game after losing only once in the first nine rounds.

Mamelodi Sundowns leads the table with 33 points, followed by SuperSport United (26) and Pirates (25) in second and third place, respectively.

While the Pirates have won three knockout competitions since the arrival of Spanish coach Jose Riveiro last season, the priority is to win the Premiership for the first time since 2012.

In the other weekend match, SuperSport United won 2-1 at mid-table Moroka Swallows in Soweto, thanks to two goals in the final five minutes from Nigerian Eliosa Ighodaro.

Swallows coach and former South Africa captain Steve Komphela admitted after the defeat that his team had boycotted training for ten days due to alleged unpaid salaries.
