Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has confirmed that midfielder Oupa Manyisa’s season is over after picking up an achilles injury during their defeat by Kaizer Chiefs in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup on Saturday.
The 31-year-old was forced off the field in the first half of Sundowns 4-2 defeat by Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The veteran midfielder struggled for game time and was given a rare appearance against the Glamour Boys but his time on the field was cut short by the injury.
‘Ja‚ I think his achilles is gone,’ Mosimane told the media.
‘So, I think the season is done for him. Unfortunately. Very sad.’
Meanwhile, Manyisa thanked everybody for their support as he works on mending his way back to full fitness.
‘Thanks for all the messages of support. Sometimes things happen we don’t understand, but we keep faith that it all happens for a reason. Looking forward to being back out there again doing what I love,’ Manyisa said.
