For the second day running heavy rain halted play in the Indian Premier League final in Ahmedabad on Monday with the Chennai Super Kings chasing 215 for victory against defending champions Gujarat Titans.
When a heavy rainstorm on Sunday washed out play, the players had to leave the pitch on a reserve day. By the time Gujarat’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami had bowled three balls, Chennai was at four runs without a loss.
The final is thought to be Chennai captain MS Dhoni’s last game because so many fans came back to the world’s largest cricket stadium wearing his yellow jersey.
When Gujarat was given the chance to bat first, Sai Sudharsan hit 96 runs to help his team reach 214-4, which was the highest score in an IPL final.
