Real Madrid have completed the signing of England international Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund on a six-year deal.

The England international joins the Spanish giants for an initial fee of £88.5m.

With a deal worth 103 million euros ($110 million), Madrid made the 19-year-old one of the most expensive players of all time. The price could go up by up to 30% more.

At the Qatar World Cup in 2022, Bellingham stepped up to the biggest stage and led England to the quarterfinals, where they were narrowly knocked out by France, who ended up coming in second place.

The midfielder, who will turn 20 later in June, gave the Three Lions grace and balance. He worked hard on both ends of the pitch and was wise beyond his years.

When he became Dortmund’s captain in October of last year, he was only 19 years old, but his cool head helped him get the job. He led the team to the edge of a rare title.

“Real Madrid CF and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Jude Bellingham, who will be contracted to our club for the next six seasons,” Madrid confirmed on their official website.

“Jude Bellingham will be unveiled as a new Real Madrid player tomorrow, Thursday 15 June, at 12:00 noon at Real Madrid City.”

With the addition of Bellingham, Real Madrid’s midfield is getting younger. He joins the young French duo of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, who are helping to replace Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

“Our clubs signs one of the biggest talents in world football, a player who comes from Borussia Dortmund and arrives at Madrid after being chosen as the best player in the Bundesliga 2022-23 season,” Madrid said.

“On top of that, he is only 19 and is already a starter for the England national team.”

Bellingham played well for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions at the World Cup last year. However, runners-up France eliminated England in the quarterfinals.

The midfielder, who will turn 20 in June, joined Dortmund from Birmingham for 25 million euros in 2020. He played 132 games for Dortmund and won the German Cup in 2021.

“Thank you to everyone at BVB and to the fans for everything over the past three years,” Bellingham told Dortmund’s club website.

“It was an honour to wear your shirt so often, in big and small moments. Even though I’m looking forward to my next destination, I’ll never forget the journey there. Once a Borussian, always a Borussian.”
