Former Orlando Pirates star Justin Shonga has passed away at the age of 27, the Football Association of Zambia has confirmed.
The news of Shonga’s passing was confirmed by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) on Sunday.
Prior to his death, Shonga was on the books at Saudi Arabian outfit Najran Sports Club.
Over the course of his career, the Namibian forward has made 127 appearances across all competitions, while scoring 21 goals and registering 21 assists while playing for the likes of Nkwazi FC, Orlando Pirates, TTM, Cape Town City, Sekhukhune United, Ismaily, FC Gagra and most recently Najran SC.
“Former Chipolopolo forward Justin Shonga has died,” the Football Association of Zambia confirmed.
“Zambia Police Deputy Spokesperson Dan Mwale has confirmed in an interview with the FAZ Media Team. Mwale said Shonga died at Sikanze Police Hospital after a short illness.
“More details will be availed in due course.”
