Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has remained tight-lipped on winger Monnapule Saleng’s situation at the club.

The 26-year-old has not played a match in over two months, putting his future at the club in question.

Saleng hit the ground running with impressive performances and had been one of the Buccaneers’ key players earlier this season.

The Bloemhof-born winger featured 13 times, scoring five goals and grabbing one assist before his absence.

Speaking to the media about his players, Riveiro insisted that discussing his injured players’ recovery process is not within his “job description.”

“I don’t speak about the health of my players; it’s something that belongs to the private space, and the moment the club feels that it’s the right time to speak about which players are injured, how long they are going to take and which process of recovery they are in, [they will]. It’s not part of my job description; it’s not an ethical thing,” Riveiro said in a press conference ahead of their Nedbank Cup clash against Baroka.

“I know it will be nice to know how close is Olisa [Ndah] or [Goodman] Mosele and what’s happening with [Monnapule] Saleng but it’s not going to happen.”
