South African youth international goalkeeper Constandino ‘Costi’ Christodoulou has gone on trial with English champions Manchester City.

The 16-year-old is the captain of South Africa’s U17 team and played for them in the Cosafa Championship in Mauritius in July‚ where Amajimbos just missed out on a place at the African U17 Championship in Tanzania.

The Hilton College pupil‚ who currently plays for Maritzburg United‚ and is highly rated by coach Fadlu Davids.

This was evident as Christodoulou became the youngest player to have competed in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge.

The teenager flew to England last week and attended the Manchester derby between Manchester City and Manchester United, with his trial getting started on Monday.

City paid for the expenses to fly the youngster for an extended two-week period.

During this time, the club will complete all the legal documentation required by the Premier League for him to trial with them at their academy‚ which is believed to be a sign of their intention to sign him if his trial goes well.

Christodoulou has been training at Maritzburg since 2016 and is said to have been monitored by the English champions for over a year.

The young keeper is also a diligent student, with Hilton allowing him to train with the PSL club in the morning and catch up with schoolwork in the afternoons.
