SuperSport United have ended their interest in Mamelodi Sundowns duo Lucky Mohomi and Aubrey Ngoma due to Downs’ demands to include Aubrey Modiba in any deal, according to Stan Matthews.
Matsatsantsa have been looking to bring in more firepower up front after already signing Thamsanqa Gabuza and Kudakwashe Mahachi from Orlando Pirates.
Former Pirates forward Thabo Qalinge is also in training as he looks to secure a contract after being released by the Soweto giants, but chief executive Matthews has revealed that the club have ended their pursuit of Mohomi and Ngoma.
The SuperSport chief executive said that there was no hope of concluding a deal as they are not willing to let Modiba leave.
‘We can’t afford to be in a position where we are held at ransom for Aubrey Modiba. Aubrey is not for sale and so is Teboho Mokoena. We are not willing to sell them to any local side.
‘As a result, we’ve given up on Ngoma and Mohomi because Sundowns won’t give me those two. We are looking at other players. We will sign two players before the end of this transfer window market,’ Matthews concluded.
Mohomi and Ngoma have seemingly been frozen out by Downs and with no sign of a return to the first team in sight, it remains to be seen if the duo will get their move away from Chloorkop.
