Manchester City extended their winning run to 18 matches following their 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Citizens got off to the perfect start and grabbed the lead 75 seconds into the first half as Riyad Mahrez crossed the ball into the path of Raheem Sterling in the six-yard box, who had space to flick his header towards the back post to find the net.

Man City exerted their dominance inside the first 10 minutes with Sterling, Mahrez and Bernardo Silva having opportunities to extend their lead even further.

The Gunners had a chance to level matters in the 18th minute when Kieran Tierney squared the ball back for Saka on the edge of the area. He then unleashed a strike which was heading for the target but the strike was inadvertently blocked by Aubameyang, who was in an offside position.

Mari made an important block in the 27th minute to deny Mahrez, who beat Tierny before he tried to curl his effort into the far corner from the edge of the box.

Arsenal had a chance to level matters three minutes later when Tierny unleashed a strike from 20-yards out but the Gunners fullback directed his strike straight into the hands of Ederson.

The Gunners had the last chance of the first half with a minute left to play when the ball broke for Pepe, who tried to beat Ederson at the near post but the Man City keeper watched the ball hit his post and out of play as the game went into the half time break.

City showed their intent early in the second half as Sterling got to the by-line and wriggled free of Bellerin. He slid one back for Zinchenko, who shoots first-time from 15 yards but it just skied over the crossbar.

The visitors should have doubled their lead in the 49th minute as De Bruyne found space in the box to pull the trigger, but the playmaker goes for a cute chipped finish, but the ball drifted just wide of the top corner.

Leno came to his sides rescue in the 56th minute when he made a smart save to deny Gundogan’s curling effort which was heading for the far corner.

Cancelo had a chance to double City’s lead in the 70th minute when he dribbled his way into the box before unleashing a strike at goal, but Tierney did well to make a crucial block.

Arsenal nearly capitalised on a defensive error by City four minutes later but Elneny was unable to direct his effort on target as it sailed wide of goal.

The Blues should’ve put the game to bed in the 81st minute when Jesus put Cancelo through on goal inside the box but sent his effort just wide of the far post with the outside of his foot.

Man City managed to hold on to their one-goal lead over Arsenal until the final whistle to walk away with all three points to extend their winning run.
