Mamelodi Sundowns continued their fine form in the DStv Premiership after extending their winning run to 13 games following their 2-1 victory over TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Rushine de Reuck’s goal on his return to the team got Masandawana off to a great start after he headed home a Gaston Sirino’s corner kick in the 11th minute.
But five minutes later, De Reuck was taken off the field due to a head injury and subsequently replaced by Brian Onyango.
Sirino, who assisted Sundowns’ opening goal, had a chance to score in the 32nd minute, but the Uruguayan attacker blazed his effort wide of the goal.
The Rockets had numerous chances to level matters close to the end of the first half when Junior Traore fired his effort wide of goal before Sphiwe Mahlangu saw his backheel glance past the near post as the game went into the break 1-0 in favour of Sundowns.
Masandawana did not have to wait long to double their lead in the second half as Peter Shalulile doubled their lead with a close range finish to make it 2-0 in the 64th minute.

Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic responded by making a triple substitution with 17 minutes left to play as Kamogelo Sebelebele, Ofentse Mongae and Vuyo Mere were introduced in place of Nkosikhona Radebe, Sphiwe Mahlangu and Mlungisi Mbunjana, respectively.
The Rockets were then awarded a penalty in stoppage time when Mongae was fouled by goalkeeper Denis Onyango in the area. Djakaridja Traore stepped up and made no mistake to slot home the spot kick, which proved to be a consolation as Sundowns held on for their 13th straight win.
