Mamelodi Sundowns reclaimed top spot in the Betway Premiership following their 2-1 victory over Royal AM at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Sundowns got off to the perfect start when Sphelele Mkhulise gave them the lead in the sixth minute of the match.

Khuliso Mudau doubled Sundowns’ lead in the 85th minute before Royal AM pulled a goal back in stoppage-time through Sbangani Zulu, which proved to be a consolation goal as the home side held on for the win.

The win takes Sundowns back up to the summit of the table, level on 12 points with second placed Orlando Pirates after four matches.

Meanwhile, Royal AM are now in ninth place with four points from five games after the defeat in Pretoria.
