Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has explained how to get the best out of in-form striker Khanyisa Mayo.
The 25-year-old is currently sitting second in the top goalscorer charts with nine goals, trailing leader Mamelodi Sundowns’ Lucas Ribeiro by one goal.
However, Mayo is expected to miss their upcoming DStv Premiership encounter against Kaizer Chiefs as he is currently on national team duty with the Bafana Bafana squad.
Tinkler has praised the strikers work rate but wants him to become more consistent in the final third.
“I think I’ve said this to the media before when Mayo works and works extremely hard and plays with a high intensity and is active in terms of his game, then Mayo’s a good striker,” Tinkler told the media in Cape Town.
“Now, Getting that out of him consistently that’s always going to be the challenge. You get that out of him by being on top of him, constantly got to be on top of him, constantly.
“But the good thing is he listens, he is always willing to listen.”
Cape Town City against Kaizer Chiefs is scheduled to kick-off at 15:30 at Athlone Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
