Warriors progressed to the final of the DStv Compact Cup after securing a late 2-1 victory over Amabutho at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening.
Warriors named a strong starting lineup, which included Itumeleng Khune, Happy Jele, Keagan Dolly and Kwame Peprah, while Amabutho named a striking partnership of Victor Letsoalo and Samkelo Mzolo.
Khune was called into action as early as the 19th minute when he produced a fine save to keep out Pule Mmodi’s low volley at goal.
Mmodi had another chance to hand his side the lead just before the half-hour mark but his close-range effort was once again saved by Khune.
Warriors got off to the perfect start in the second half when Siyethemba Sithebe played a back pass toward goalkeeper Veli Mothwa, but saw it evade the shotstopper to find the bottom corner.
Amabutho managed to find an equalising goal 22 minutes before time when Nkosinathi Sibisi’s left-footed shot from very close range found the top-left corner following a corner.
Mmodi should’ve put the game to bed 14 minutes before time but saw his effort saved by Khune in a one-on-one situation.
However, the Warriors managed to snatch a winner three minutes to full time when Monnapule Saleng fired his effort into the far corner to hand his side the win and set up a final against Coastal United.
