Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams wrote his name in the PSL history books by becoming the first goalkeeper to keep 18 clean sheets in a single PSL season.
Williams set a new PSL record after keeping his 18th clean sheet for the Brazilians following their 2-0 victory over Marumo Gallants this past weekend.
The 31-year-old has new surpassed legendary goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs’ record of 17 cleans sheets which he achieved during the 2009-10 PSL season.
Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has since lauded the Bafana Bafana shot stopper for his feat this season while also praising the team’s achievements so far this season.
“We are a very proud of ‘Ronz’a and proud of the team, as I say individual awards are only a reflection of the contribution of the team it’s a team performance, its a team record and were very proud of everyone at the football club.”
