A second-half brace from Dumisani Zuma fired Kaizer Chiefs to a 2-0 win over Chippa United as Amakhosi moved seven points clear of closest rivals Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday evening in the Absa Premiership.

Chiefs coach Middendorp rang the changes after a sapping Soweto derby over the weekend with one eye on the second derby of the season on Saturday.

Both teams played extra time in the Telkom Knockout up over the weekend and that was evident with the slow start to the game as both teams looked to find their feet.

Chiefs had the first clear-cut chance in the 27th minute when Siyabonga Ngezana rose highest at a corner, but the defender could not hit the target from six yards out.

The first half offered very little goal-mouth action from then on as both teams struggled to pick out a final ball with neither side opening the scoring before the break.

Ernst Middendorp looked to change his approach at the start of the second stanza as Moleko was brought off for George Maluleka with a view of adding an extra man in the middle of the park.

Chiefs started to control the game and it came as no surprise when they opened the scoring in the 66th minute when Willard Katsande played in Zuma, who made no mistake in finding the bottom corner.

Chiefs continued to search for the second to kill off the game and it eventually came in stoppage time as Zuma completed his brace with a deflected effort to seal the 2-0 win and send Chiefs seven points clear of Sundowns, who drew with Baroka.
