Bafana Bafana will face Ghana, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia in Group G after the draw for the 2022 Fifa World Cup-qualification second round was concluded in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday evening.
Molefi Ntseki will be looking to build on their appearance at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations for a spot in the third round of qualifiers.
The South Africans will face off against the Black Stars, neighbours Zimbabwe and Ethiopia in Group G. The winner of the group will seal progression to the third round of the qualifiers, while the other three teams will be eliminated.
The second round of qualifying will get under way in October 2020 and Bafana will undoubtedly be eyeing a spot in the finals set to take place in Qatar in 2022, which would be their fourth appearance at the global showpiece.
The last time South Africa competed at the tournament was as the 2010 hosts and will thus be looking to end their 12-year absence from the World Cup.
