Burkina Faso progressed to the quarter-finals following their 2-0 win over Guinea-Bassau, Cameroon and Gabon played out to a goalless draw in the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

The Stallions got off to a good start and opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Prejuce Nakoulma put the ball into the back of the net from close range following an error by the Bassua defence.

However, in the opening half of the encounter, neither side could keep a hold of the possession of the ball and both side’s could not create any clear-cut opportunities at goal.

The score remained 1-0 in favour of the Stallions as the sides entered the halftime interval.

However, 10 minutes into the second half, Burkina Faso doubled their lead when Bertrand Traore slotted the ball into the back of the net from close range to make it 2-0.

Camara came close to pulling a goal back for his side in the 75th minute but he fired his effort wide of the target from close range.

However, Burkina Faso managed to hold on to their 2-0 lead over Guine-Bassau until the final whistle to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Cameroon and Gabon were forced to settle for a point each as they played out to a goalless draw, as Cameroon progressed to the quarter-finals, while Gabon bow out of the tournament.
