Cameroon were crowned 2017 Africa Cup of Nations champions following their 2-1 victory over Egypt in the final.
The Indomitable Lions got off to a bright start and dominated possession in the opening exchanges of the match but it was Egypt who broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute when Mohamed Salah played in Mohamed Elneny on goal before his shot found the roof of the net from a tight angle.
However, Cameroon were dealt a major blow in the 30th minute when Adolphe Teikeu picked up a knock and had to be replaced by Nicolas Nkoulou.
Cameroon eventually found an equalising goal in the 57th minute when substitute N’koulou’s headed effort found the back of the net to beat Hegazy.
Both sides pressed forward in search of the goal to put them in the lead but neither side could carve out clear-cut chances in the final third.
However, Cameroon all but side the victory in the 88th minute when Vincent Aboubakar showed composure to beat his marker before he volleyed the ball into the bottom corner to clinch the title.
The Indomitable Lions have now won their fifth Afcontitle to clinch their first title since 2002.
