Cameroon staged a fight back to beat Afcon debutant’s Guinea-Bissau 2-1 in Group A action on Wednesday while hosts Gabon drew 1-1 with Burkina Faso.

In the day’s early kick-off, Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rescued hosts Gabon after Burkina Faso had opened the scoring through Prejuce Nakoulma. Gabon were unable to take advantage of Aubameyang’s first half penalty and are now in doubt of qualifying for the next phase of the competition.

Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions have no such issues after staging their own comeback against minnows Guinea-Bissau.

The four-time champions went behind to a wonderful individual effort by Piquito but Sebastien Siani drew his side level before Michael  Ngadeu-Ngadjui gave Cameroon the lead and what turn out to be the winner.

After their first win in six Afcon finals matches, Cameroon now sit two points clear at the top of Group A with the game against hosts Gabon to play.

In Monday’s other fixture, Guinea-Bissau face Burkina Faso.
