French coach Michel Dussuyer has resigned from his post as head coach of the Ivory Coast national team after their elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Ivorian football federation announced the departure of Michel Dussuyer after spending just 18 months as head coach of the Elephants.

The 57-year-old’s last game in charge of the Elephants end in a 1-0 defeat against Morocco with Rachid Alioui scoring the only goal of the match as they finished third in Group C during the group stages of the Afcon.

The Ivorian football federation praised Dussuyer’s professionalism, commitment and human quality but has confirmed that they are already on the lookout for his successor.

‘The appropriate measures will be put in place to find his successor,’ The federation statement read.

The defending champions under Dussuyer failed to win their first-round clash in Gabon, suffering a defeat against Morocco after draws with both Togo and DR Congo before their exit from the competition.
