Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande says he was disappointed with Zimbabwe’s failure to reach the knockout round of the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
The Warriors finished at the foot of their group after suffering two defeats and one draw during their three Group B encounters.
The 31-year-old says he was disappointed that his side bowed out of the African tournament but insists that it was a great experience for him and his teammates.
‘The feeling is obviously not good because we didn’t reach our goal. We are disappointed, but life goes on,’ Katsande told the Kaizer Chiefs website.
‘Taking part in Afcon means a lot to any footballer.’
‘We enjoyed every single minute of our three matches. The atmosphere in the stadium was out of this world. We will be back in 2019.’
Katsande, who captained the Zimbabwe national team during the Afcon, admits that he was delighted with his individual performance after starting in all three matches, despite not winning a single match.
‘I am happy with my individual performance. I hope to have left a mark at this tournament. I managed to be consistent, which was my priority,’ He added.
Kaizer Chiefs will next welcome Free State Stars to the FNB Stadium on February 7.
Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
