Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi believes the Soweto derby was a game he firmly believes they did not deserve to lose.

The Glamour Boys were close to earning a point against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates but a stoppage-time penalty from Patrick Maswanganyi saw the Buccaneers walk away with the victory.

The defeat sees Amakhosi drop down to fifth place in the Betway Premiership standings with 21 points after winning six, drawing three and suffering six defeats from 15 games.

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers moved back up to second place in the league standings with 18 points, having won 10 games and only conceding two defeats in 12 matches.

Nabi admits he will not touch on the refereeing decision throughout the match for the fear of getting backlash for his comments.

“I’m not going to talk anymore about this type of referees. You will see in your studio if it was a penalty or not,” Nabi told SuperSport TV after the game.

“If I talk, red card. If I ask him about his family, red card. ‘How are you, red card.”

“We gave them a lot of problems, especially in our pressing to not let them be comfortable with the ball, because we know it’s very technical team.

“If you let them play, you give them confidence. At some point they were playing a lot of long-balls.

“There were some good moments for us and some good moments for them, but we firmly believe that it’s a game the we didn’t deserve to lose.”
