Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro insists they had to fight till the end to snatch three points away from Richards Bay FC in their Betway Premiership encounter at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium in Durban.
The Buccaneers secured their third consecutive win in the Betway Premiership following their narrow 1-0 victory over the Natal Rich Boys.
The win sees Pirates sit in second place on the log, level on nine points with Mamelodi Sundowns, who have the better goal difference.
The Natal Rich Boys, meanwhile, have now dropped down to 10th place in the league standings with four points from their first four matches.
“Complex game but we did it in the end. That’s the most important thing, we got enough opportunities even in the first-half to get the lead and have a different game ahead of us,” Ribeiro told SuperSport TV after the game.
“But we had to fight until the end, to try to find a hole to put the ball in the back of the net.
“An excellent goal but the attitude of the players today was super, from the first minute.
“It’s not easy to play these type of games before the cup final. Everybody showed a very high commitment in the game, with the results, with the three points.”
