Richards Bay coach Brandon Truter rues his side’s decision-making in their defeat to Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday evening.
The Natal Rich Boys suffered a fifth defeat in the Betway Premiership following their 2-1 loss to Amakhosi at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Goals by Wandile Duba and Ashley Du Preez cancelled out an injury time goal from Yamela Mbuthuma as Chiefs held on for the win on home soil.
The defeat sees Richards Bay placed 14th with five points after eight matches, while Chiefs move up to sixth place on the table with 10 points after six games.
“They gave us a bit of a problem in the wider areas. We came out [in the second stanza] and changed the formation. They get a man sent off, which gave us an upper hand, we changed the game, being on the front foot,” Truter told SuperSport TV after the game.
“But the goals we conceded…We did not pick up the second ball, we went to sleep. There are certain moments in the game the coach can’t coach, that situation belongs to the player.
“That’s where decision-making, awareness and a bit of quality comes in and I think we were let down by that tonight, because some decisions were baffling, especially with time on the ball.
“The one man Chiefs gifted us we gave it away, we rushed things, our composure let us down. These are moments which comes down to IQ, awareness and a bit of quality.
“But it’s an ongoing process, it’s not the result we were hoping for but we can’t let our heads down, we still have a game in 72 hours. A bit disappointed with some individuals but it’s an ongoing process.”
