AmaZulu co-coach Arthur Zwane is eyeing a spot in the top eight when they welcome Stellenbosch FC to the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium on Thursday evening.

Usuthu currently occupy ninth place on the table with 16 points, having won five games, one draw and conceded seven defeats in 13 league matches.

Stellies, meanwhile, are placed eight on the log with the same points but a higher goal difference, having won four matches, drawn four and suffered only three defeats in 11 matches.

Zwane is stunned by the club’s current position on the league table and is eager to secure a top eight spot.

“AmaZulu are a big team and they don’t deserve to be at the bottom, fighting for survival,” Zwane told his club’s official website.

“The team should be competing for positions one and two, but we are a work in progress. We belong with the best and there’s a lot to expect from this group of players.

“We are so proud of the guys for coming here [in Polokwane] and getting a positive result [against Magesi]; they gave their all.

“You could see in the last 20 minutes that they were pushing themselves. However, they showed that mentally they are strong and demonstrated a lot of character.”

Kick-off has been set for 19:30pm on Thursday.
