Cardoso unhappy with draw but Sundowns march on

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso bemoaned his side’s late concession of a goal in their 1-1 home draw with Moroccan side FAR Rabat that denied them top spot in their CAF Champions League pool.

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro was delighted with his side’s statement win over Al Ahly in their CAF Champions League clash in Cairo on Saturday that saw The Buccaneers top their pool but warned against getting too carried away.

Sundowns in do-or-die battle in Champions League

The focus for this weekend’s final round of African Champions League group matches will be firmly fixed on fixtures in Dar-es-Salaam, Casablanca and Pretoria, with two more places in the next round still to be decided.

CAF competitions provide SA football with boost

South African football is looking to 2025 for a major boost, with World Cup qualification in sight for Bafana Bafana and a chance to win a continental title again in the end-of-the-year Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco.

‘We want to play a game with our style’ – Riveiro

Orlando Pirates sealed a first CAF Champions League knockout round place for 12 years as they defeated Algerian side CR Belouizdad 2-1 at the Orlando Stadium on Sunday to ensure a top two finish in their pool.

Cardoso on first defeat as Sundowns coach

New coach Miguel Cardoso suffered his first defeat at Mamelodi Sundowns as they suffered a 1-0 reversal at Moroccan outfit Raja Casablanca in the CAF Champions League on Saturday, a game in which they had two players sent off.
