SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter feels his team should have garnered the victory in their 2-2 draw against Horoya in their CAF Confederation Cup tie.

Goals by Keagan Ritchie and Thuso Phala ensured that SuperSport shared the spoils in their tie at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, but Baxter wasn’t particularly pleased with the outcome.

‘I think it was quite a good game of football,’ he said in post-match comments.

‘First half was not 100 percent and that made it difficult to press properly and difficult to play through in the right way. But I thought in the second half when we changed the structure it was much better and our possession was more effective.

We created more chances, we controlled the game better in the second half.

The newly-appointed Bafana Bafana mentor acknowledged that Matsatsantsa showed character to reduce the deficit twice in the tie and alluded to their taxing schedule.

‘The boys showed character, because the schedule we have has been heavy. But the boys showed character to come back twice and show that they wanted to win.

‘As a coach I wanted to win, but I am pleased how the players approached the game. But a draw at home is not what we were looking for,’ he concluded.

SuperSport turn their attention to the Absa Premiership where they will face relegation-threatened Chippa United on Wednesday, before facing the same opposition three days later in a Nedbank Cup semi-final encounter.
