Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana will be hoping his side can maintain their momentum as they prepare for the Caf Champions League after winning the Absa Premiership title.
The Brazilians will play host to defending champions Wydad Casablanca in their first group stage encounter at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
Kekana wants his side to channel the same momentum that saw them win the Caf Champions League trophy and the PSL title as they enter the group stages of the competition.
‘We would be happy for us to take the momentum we have into the group stages of the Champions League. It will be good for us because when we won the Champions League in 2016, we won it from the momentum we got from winning the PSL,’ Kekana told KickOff.com.
The Sundowns skipper, who made 31 appearances so far this season, heaped praise on his teammates after winning the league title against Ajax Cape Town last week, despite their busy fixture list this campaign.
‘We’ve had a long season with all the games we have played. Remember, we did not have a pre-season and I am happy that we won the league and we did it with the many games we played,’ he added.
Mamelodi Sundowns against Wydad Casablanca kicks off at 9pm.
