Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena heaped praise on his players following their comfortable 3-0 victory over FC Nouadhibou in the Caf Champions League on Sunday.
The Brazilians cruised to victory thanks to goals by Lucas Ribeiro Costa, Peter Shalulile and Gastón Sirino at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
The win sees Sundowns move up to the top of the Group A standings with three points after the first game, while Nouadhibou sits at the foot of the table.
Mokwena was extremely proud of his side and was happy to give certain players much-needed game time under their belt.
“Yeah, I’m very proud of them because normally when we rotate the level drops a bit but I’m very for Neo (Maema) it was good to see him on the pitch, Rushine (De Reuck) excellent I think zero mistakes, Mosa (Lebusa) did exceptionally well,” Mokwena told SABC Sports after the game.
“Mkhulise was good in a different role today, deeper to help us play a bit and it’s good to see Peter, Lucas and Thapelo also on the pitch.
“They helped us in the final third especially with possibilities to create and many things even when out of possession but Terrence also was good, stable and gave a good account of himself.
“So, very happy with the players that got an opportunity to play they did exceptionally well and even the substitutes they were very good and I’m very proud of them, congratulations to the entire team and the technical team too.”
