Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena has revealed they will tweak a few components of their game ahead of their Caf Champions League clash with Al-Hilal Omdurman on Friday evening.
The Brazilians are set to welcome the Sudanese outfit to the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg for their opening group-stage game in Group A.
Sundowns will go into this encounter high in confidence after they secured a 2-0 victory over Chippa United in their previous game at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Monday evening.
Mokwena admits that they have been monitoring their opponent’s progress leading up to the match following their arrival in the country two-and-a-half weeks ago.
“We know that our opposition have been in the country for the last two-and-a-half weeks, or more. They’ve played friendlies against Stellenbosch FC, against Cape Town City where they lost the game 3-2 and tomorrow [Tuesday] they’ve got a friendly in Cape Town,” Mokwena told his club’s official website.
“Their preparations have gone well, it’s gonna be a difficult game but we start now, today we recover and try to get the players as fresh as possible and that becomes the immediate objective.
“Secondly, we come in and do the analysis and debrief of this match and check where we went wrong – the things that we didn’t do right and it is very clear that there’s quite a few. So, we’ve got a bit of work to do with regard to that so that we can try to improve the performance, then we can start focusing on the opposition and we start having match-day countdowns.”
Mamelodi Sundowns vs Al-Hilal Omdurman is scheduled to kick off at 6pm on Friday evening.
