Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena is counting on the experience within the team to help guide them past CR Belouizdad in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League clash on Saturday evening.

The Brazilians jetted off to Algeria on Monday ahead of their highly-anticipated knockout clash against the Algerian side in Baraki.

Sundowns sealed their progression to the quarter-finals after they finished top of the Group B standings and will now participate in a two-legged fixture which will see CR Belouizdad play hosts to Sundowns in Algeria before Sundowns welcomes them for the second leg a week later at Chloorkop.

Mokwena has since provided an update on the team’s training and how they are settling in during their time in Algeria.

“The team has already had an activation session done by the sports scientists and the medical department,” Mokwena told his club’s official website.

“We have done two training sessions and have moved into specific work on what to do for the match. A lot of the work has also been done behind the scenes with a video session.

“We have to stay focused because we’ll playing against a good side that knows that they will also be playing another quality side.

“Our focus is on the match performance and trying to make sure that we are at our best and performing to a level that is expected of us. Fortunately, we have very experienced staff and players who know how to handle the demands of a trip like this.”
