Mamelodi Sundowns defender Thapelo Morena says if you get the opportunity, you have to “just deliver” following his performance against Golden Arrows.
Morena grabbed a goal and an assist in Sundowns 5-0 victory over Arrows in the Carling knockout Cup.
The 31-year-old will now be hoping to continue his current form when they take on Royal AM at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday evening.
Morena admits that he grabbed the opportunity to stake his claim in the team, insisting that you have to take your chances when given the opportunity.
“We knew that the game was going to be a bit difficult but the most important thing was to stick to our game plan and deliver, and whatever we done in the game it came out exactly the way we planned,” Morena said.
“The first half we created almost six but only scored two and second half it was a bit different. I think its also good going into the (CAF) Champions League, goals win games.
“I think as a player, whenever you get the chance you have to just deliver. I’m grateful I’m getting the chance and doing good on the opportunity that I get.
“The most important thing as a full-back is to create and eventually score.”
