Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane admitted that he was not entirely happy with his side’s 2-1 loss to Wydad Casablanca in their Caf Champions League first leg semi-final in Rabat, but conceded that the away goal could still prove vital.

Wydad opened the scoring in Friday night’s clash, but were pegged back just before half-time as Anele Ngcongca was in the right spot to head home after Hlompho Kekana’s strike was palmed into his path.

The Moroccan side may have scored the winner just after the half-time break, but Mosimane praised his side’s performance.

‘While I’m not entirely happy with the result, because we lost 2-1, I’m happy with the performance from the team because it’s always a difficult place for us here in Morocco, but we improve,’ he told Downs’ official website.

‘We made a lot of mistakes at the back, but you have to understand that everyone is stressed because it’s the Caf Champions League semi-finals and everyone wants to go to the finals. I believe we should have cleared the ball in the first goal.

‘It was the first time I see Wydad so stressed at the back, it’s also because we scored the important away goal.’

Mosimane’s charges will have to turn their attention back to the Absa Premiership for Tuesday night’s clash against Black Leopards before the return leg on Saturday evening at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.
