Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he was pleased his side did not concede against a ‘tough’ Rayon Sports side on Wednesday.

The Brazilians were forced to share the spoils with Rayon after playing to a 0-0 draw draw at the Stade Amahoro in the first leg go their Caf Champions League encounter.

Mosimane says he was not impressed with his side’s first half performance, insisting his players underestimated the ability of their opponents from Rwanda.

‘I was not happy with my team in the first half. They started to relax thinking that it was going to be easy but it did not turn out like that because the opponents raised the standards,’ Mosimane told the media after the match.

‘It was an open game, which is how I expect Rayon Sports to play. They are a good playing team.’

The Sundowns mentor heaped praise on goalkeeper Denis Onyango as well as defenders Wayne Arendse and Ricardo Nascimento for not conceding against the fast attackers of Rayon.

‘I think my two centre-backs and the goalkeeper played well to defend against the fast strikers and fast attack of Rayon. I am happy we did not concede a goal, so from my side we will see in the second leg,’ he added.

Mamelodi Sundowns will now turn their attention to the Nedbank Cup when they welcome EC Bees to Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday, with kick-off set for 19:30.
