Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has stressed the importance of finding the right balance when rotating his squad through their busy end-of-season schedule.

Sundowns currently sit top of the Absa Premiership and have already secured their progression to the quarter-finals of the Caf Champions League, heading into Saturday’s final group game against Wydad Casablanca in Morocco.

Balancing between the two competitions is something Mosimane has become accustomed to in recent seasons, but he admitted that it will take a collective effort to be successful.

‘We need to listen to the players and the technical team, it’s not an ego thing, I might be a coach, but I have to respect people I work with. We need to be honest to each other,’ Mosimane told the media on Tuesday after Sundowns’ 2-1 victory over Maritzburg United.

‘The only challenge we might have, which is good stress, is players who are hungry and want to play every game. We need to be careful, rotating them will be good for us as we want to use everyone, especially [those] who are in a good spirit, a winning mindset.’

The former Bafana Bafana coach was also asked about the hostile reception his side is likely to receive in Morocco.

‘It’s never been easy, we’ve been getting tough treatment, nothing new. Everywhere we go it’s very tough, but what can you say? It’s African football problems, we can only hope for change. It’s 2019, we can do better as a continent,’ he concluded.
