Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane believes his team has what it takes to beat Libyan side Al Ahli Benghazi and secure their progression to the next round of the Caf Champions League.

Sundowns were held to a 0-0 draw away in Egypt in their first round first-leg match on Sunday, with a number of their stars including Themba Zwane, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Denis Onyango out injured.

Despite missing these key players, Downs had a number of chances to win the encounter against the Butchers at the Petro Sport Stadium in Egypt, but were let down by some wasteful finishing against some determined defending.

Mosimane, however, insisted to the media after the clash that despite having a depleted squad to choose from, he still believes his side has the firepower to get past the Libyan side when they host Al Ahli at Loftus Versfeld stadium next Saturday in the second leg.

‘I think we can do better at home. We can seal it at home,’ said the former Bafana Bafana coach.

‘We have the time, we cannot be complaining about injuries. Kennedy did well, to be honest, maybe the back five including Kennedy did very well,’ added Mosimane on his back-up keeper’s performance.

Mosimane was also full of praise for youngster Phakamani Mahlambi, who started in the absence of Zwane.

‘We had enough ammunition to still win, I am happy with Phaka (Mahlambi),’ the Sundowns coach added.

‘Phaka played well, he is coming up slowly, JB (Brockie) is working hard also, it’s just the finishing touches, I think we will win the game at home,’ concluded Mosimane.
