Al Ahy head coach Pitso Mosimane believes Benni McCarthy’s AmaZulu outfit has the capability to beat any team in the Caf Champions League on a good day.
This will be the first time ever in the history of the club existence that Usuthu will be competing in the Champions League after qualifying for the group stages after they defeated Big Bullets and TP Mazembe in the qualifying rounds.
Usuthu were drawn in Group B and McCarthy’s side are accompanied by Raja (Morocco), Horoya (Guinea) and ES Setif (Algeria).
However, Mosimane has weighed in on Usuthu chances during the group stages, while also praising the likes of Raja Casablanca, Horoya and ES Setif, who have been pitted in the same group as McCarthy’s side.
“AmaZulu can beat any of these teams on its day in South Africa, any team,” Mosimane said during the Caf Champions League draw.
“But of course, we know Raja in Morocco they are very strong, you saw them last week. Horoya in Guinea, you don’t come out from there, it’s not easy, try and win home when you play Horoya. Setif are just coming back before they were the big giants. It’s also difficult to get to Setif, it’s not an easy place to go to, so difficult group but you never know,” he said.
