Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane and defender Wayne Arendse shared their thoughts on their emphatic victory over Côte d’Or over the weekend.

The Brazilians recorded a 5-0 victory over the Seychelles outfit in their Caf Champions League in the first leg clash at the Stade Linite.

Sundowns will now take a five-goal aggregate lead to the Lucas Moripe Stadium on 27 September when the two sides square off in the return leg.

Mosimane admits that they struggled to break down the Côte d’Or defence in the first half but managed to open it up in the second stanza.

‘It is always nice to win with a big score but our opponent resisted our pressure in the first half. They came at us in the second half and we managed to penetrate their defence as the match opened up,’ Mosimane told the media.

Meanwhile, Arendse also shared his thoughts on the game and travelling home with five away goals.

‘We came here for this match not knowing much about our opponent, so we decided to keep the ball and got them to chase before we broke through to score. We did not concede which is, therefore, a good away result,’ Arendse said.

Mamelodi Sundowns will now turn their attention to their MTN8 semi-final second-leg clash with Tshwane rivals SuperSport United when they go head to head at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday, with kick-off set for 7:30pm.
