Former Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has praised Percy Tau while rating the Bafana Bafana star as the Caf Champions League Player of the Tournament.

Tau became the first South African to win two Caf Champions League titles after helping Ahly secure their 11th title following their 3-2 aggregate victory over Wydad Casablanca on Sunday evening.

The 29-year-old first won the continental trophy during his time at Mamelodi Sundowns when they defeated Egyptian gains Zamalek 3-1 on aggregate during the 2016-17 season.

The South African made 12 appearances in the competition while contributing to 10 goals, including five goals and five assists.

Mosimane strongly believes that Tau should be named as Player of the Tournament for his performance and contribution throughout the competition.

“Patriotic Lion of Judah wearing the respectable South African flag,” Mosimane posted on his official Twitter account.

“That Flag is very notorious for winning major trophies in different countries and continents! Thank God injuries gave you a break to show your talent. My Player of the Tournament and a Champion of Africa.”
