Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is expecting a tough challenge when they take Wydad Casablanca on in their next Caf Champions League Group C clash this weekend.
The Brazilians’ squad strength will be put to the test in the busy December period as they prepare to compete in three competitions, including the Caf Champions League, Absa Premiership, and the Telkom Knockout Final on 14 December.
Sundowns have faced Wydad eight times since 2017, with the latter having the slight advantage of four wins while Sundowns have only won twice with two games ending in a draw.
However, Mosimane is confident that his side can collect all three points, despite not tasting victory against Wydad away from home.
‘We have big games now, we are going to Casablanca, then Algeria, we play the final [Telkom Knockout], then Wits [Absa Premiership]. Those are big games, [and] we need our soldiers back,’ Mosimane told his club’s official website.
‘It’s a big one, I just cannot crack it there. It’s tough there, we haven’t won or drawn against them there. We will try again.
‘Maybe this time we can do it. They are stubborn, it’s the Champions League [which] they know how to play and they are very experienced. If you win away against this team you’ve done yourself a big job.’
Mamelodi Sundowns against Wydad Casablanca kicks off at 8pm.
