The Buccaneers stretched their winning run to four games in the DStv Premiership following their 2-0 win over the Citizens thanks to a brace from Tshegofatso Mabasa at the DHL Stadium on Wednesday.
Pirates now remain in third place on the table with 46 points after 26 games, while City are in seventh with 35 points after 26 matches.
Riveiro has urged his side to maintain their current form and finish in the best place they can this season.
“We’re doing our best, it’s the maximum that we can get this season, it’s our obligation to give our all,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV after the match.
“The fans are supporting us wherever we go, they are really excited with the team right now. I think we’re playing decent football, scoring goals, that’s the most important in the end.
“So we have to behave like them with passion, motivation and give our all, fight and let’s see at the end of the season we’re in what position.”
