African Stars coach Bobby Samaria believes Orlando Pirates will be better prepared for their upcoming Caf Champions League second leg clash on Saturday.

The Buccaneers will travel to the Sam Nujoma Stadium when they take on Stars in their return leg as they look to advance to the competition’s group stages.

The Stars mentor claims that doing his homework on Pirates before the first leg played a crucial role in helping them to shock Pirates to secure a goalless draw.

‘I was reading your [South African] papers and everybody was talking about a’‘walk in the park”, and I said [to the players], “It’s good to be an underdog – go and give them the shock of their lives”,’ Samaria told the media.

Samaria believes that Pirates underestimated Stars in the first leg after omitting Thembinkosi Lorch from their previous game, but he believes the Buccaneers will be better prepared for the return leg.

‘I think because we were underdogs we knew they would underestimate us and keep players like Lorch on the bench, and it was good they played into our hands,’ he added.

‘But now they’ve seen that these boys – as amateur as they are – can play, so they will come better prepared and won’t take chances [in Windhoek].’
