Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has dedicated their Caf Champions League win over Horoya to the late Philemon Masinga.
The Buccaneers moved to the top of Group B after claiming a comfortable 3-0 victory over the Guinean side on Friday evening.
Pirates will take on Esperance next month in their third group stages encounter in the continental competition.
Sredojevic was full of praise for his side following their dominant performance at the Orlando Stadium.
‘I’d like to express condolences to all South Africans upon losing Philemon ‘Chippa’ Masinga. We want to dedicate this win to him,’ Sredojevic told SuperSport TV after the match.
‘It is the third consecutive time that Horoya, they have drawn two times, today we beat them.
‘It was not an easy match, as the results are showing. It was a tough match. Exactly the way we have planned, we have passed.
‘The first goal [came] the same way they conceded in the last two matches. Between the central defender and left full-back, (Thembinkosi) Lorch got the ball and scored the goal.
‘Later on we were thinking we were lacking with two central midfielders, and we put in ‘Figo’ (Linda Mntambo) inside. With his first touch he gave a killer pass [to Justin Shonga] for the second goal.
‘Third goal was a cherry on cake, I believe it has been a good team performance. I want to give credit to all the technical [members] and all the players. We are one family, working for our supporters.
‘I believe this win could be the best possible imitation for the next match against Esperance.’
