Mamelodi Sundowns welcomed back their supporters with a resounding 3-0 win over Al-Merrikh in their final group-stage game of the Caf Champions League, sealing top spot in fashion.
The Brazilians made a number of changes for the clash with George Maluleka handed a rare start, while Grant Kekana, Aubrey Modiba and Bradley Ralani were also recalled.
After a strong start to the game, the Brazilians took the lead with just 15 minutes gone as Maluleka netted his first game for the club heading home Modiba’s cross from a corner.
Sundowns then controlled the first half as they managed to slow the tempo down and control the pace.
It was just after the hour mark when the Brazilians managed to double their lead as Haashim Domingo slipped in Ralani, who showed great composure to finish into the bottom-right corner.
Ralani was in the thick of the action and turned provider in the 72nd minute when he teed up Kermit Erasmus, who rifled a fantastic volley into the roof of the net.
Sundowns had a couple of chances to add to the scoreline, but ultimately had to settle for the three points to wrap up a very successful group stage.
