Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau was the star man for Al Ahly as he scored two goals while also providing two assists as the reigning Caf Champions League put one foot in the final with a 4-0 win over a 10-man ES Setif.
Pitso Mosimane’s chargers started on the front foot and after Taher Mohamed had a goal ruled out by VAR and Ahmed Abdelkader hit the post, they eventually took the lead through Tau who ghosted into the six-yard box to head home Taher Mohamed’s pinpoint cross with 30 minutes gone.
Disaster then struck for the visitors five minutes later as Amir Karaoui had a yellow card upgraded to red card by the VAR, as the visitors went to the break a goal and a man down.
It was always going to be an uphill battle for the Algerian side as the home side came out with intent.
With Ahly flooding forward the goal eventually came as Taher double their lead with a header at the back post from a ricochet off a shot by Tau.
Tau was causing the visitors all sorts of problems as he set up Sherif to score the third with a lovely through ball.
Tau wrapped up the game and possibly the tie as he made it 4-0 for Al Ahly with a tap-in at the near post after a square pass by Mohamed Hany in the closing stages.
Mosimane’s team will now take a massive advantage into the second leg and almost certainly have one foot in the final.
