SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler is delighted to be in the final of the Caf Confederation Cup, but maintains that they have not yet lifted the cup.
Matsantsantsa booked their spot in the tw0-legged final courtesy of a 4-2 victory against Club Africain in the semis, and despite many touting SuperSport as underdogs, Tinkler highlighted the need for focus.
‘Yes, it’s fantastic to be in the final, as the players have said, but we haven’t won anything,’ he told reporters.
‘Obviously, I have experienced what it is like to get there and lose it, we don’t want that.
‘We want to go all the way, and how do you do that? You do that by remaining focused, being humble, and staying away from the press. We need to be humble and quiet.
‘Afterwards we can celebrate. Yes, we feel great today, but the job is not done,’ he added.
Tinkler formed part of the Orlando Pirates technical team that lost to Al Ahly in the Caf Champions League final and ES Sahel in the Confederation final in 2013 and 2015 respectively.
The first leg of the encounter is set to take place on Sunday in Lubumbashi, with the return leg set to take place on 25 November at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
