Although Mamelodi Sundowns may still be hurting from their semi-final Caf Champions League, they will be receiving a multimillion-rand payday to help ease their pain, while Orlando Pirates will also receive a hefty chunk on their return to the competition.
Sundowns were left heartbroken last week when a 0-0 draw against Wydad Casablanca saw them go down 2-1 on aggregate and miss out on a spot in the Champions League final.
Sundowns, who won the competition in 2016, will be handsomely rewarded for their run to the last four, though, as they are set to receive $875,000 (around R12.5m at the current exchange rate).
However, the Brazilians could have walked away with either R18m as runner-up or an astonishing R36m for winning the tournament, had they gone all the way.
Pirates, who were knocked out in the group stages on their return to the competition, will receive $550,000 in prize money (the current equivalent of around R8m) for their third-place finish in their group.
Sundowns and Pirates are presently locked in a battle in the Absa Premiership, where the championship will be decided this coming weekend.
The Soweto giants will host Polokwane City, while Mamleodi Sundowns will travel to take on Free State Stars. Both games kick off at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
