Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker says their experiences against Nsingizini Hotspurs and AS Vita has prepared them for the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

The Cape Winelands side made their way to the group stages after they defeated both Nsingizini Hotspurs and AS Vita.

They began their participation with two first preliminary round clashes against Nsingizini, where they won 8-0 on aggregate.

Stellies then faced off against AS Vita in a two-legged second preliminary round in which they won 3-1 on aggregate to book their place in the group stages.

“There aren’t many more challenging trips than playing in DR Congo against a formidable opponent like AS Vita,” Barker told his club’s official website.

“It was a massive learning curve for everyone at the club and the lessons learned from those travels will definitely be taken into the next phase of the competition.”
