Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker insists the “game is not finished” as they prepare for the return of their CAF Confederation Cup encounter against Nsingizini Hotspurs.

The Maroon got their campaign off to a perfect start after claiming a comfortable 3-0 victory over the Eswatini outfit.

Goals from Andre de Jong, Devin Titus, and Fawaaz Basadien saw the Cape Winelands side walk away with a win at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The two teams will return to Durban next weekend when Stellenbosch host the reverse fixture at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Barker has called on his side to remain focused despite going into the second leg with a three goal advantage.

“…One thing that we need to understand, is that the tie is not over,” Barker said.

“The game is not finished, it’s only half-time. We have to come out next week and show the same character and attitude towards the game.

“I can anticipate that our opponents will really come out for it because they have nothing to lose. They need to try to get themselves back into the tie, so we expect another tough game, as was the case today.

“We’re looking forward to it though and we’ve got a week of preparation ahead. We’ll get back to Cape Town, get a bit of refreshment and regeneration, and then prepare for next week…”
